True-Cost Consulting
We offer professional consulting services for employers and corporations seeking to enhance employee productivity, quality of relationships and team-work.
What is True Cost Consulting?
True Cost Consulting (TCC): is a Division of The Anger Management Institute geared to help organizations and managers increase personnel performance, efficiency and effectiveness by creating a culture which utilizes effective anger management strategies.
Why is TCC needed? Unhealthy anger can undermine the life and energy of an organization resulting in:
- Low motivation
- Sabotaged production
- Low morale
- Low buy-in to the vision and values of the organization
- Grumbling, complaining, and criticism that creates a sense of powerlessness
- Containment of high stores of energy in the resentment process
- Lack of cooperative effort undermining efficiency and effectiveness
- Therefore, high levels of waste of the organizational assets.
- Poor product development and efficiency
- Can affect the cost to earnings benefit-profit
- High health costs- individuals with toxic anger create mental and physical health issues
- High somatic health problems- big ticket health issues such as cardiac or cancer
- Absenteeism level is high
- Avoidance of feedback
- Off task of personnel due to the distraction of anger concerns
- The cost of poor anger based motivational strategies of management
What are the goals and objecives of TCC?
Organizations utilize methods and practices to manage their personnel with the optimal goal of efficiency and effectiveness.
The target outcome is increased productivity and cost effectiveness in the delivery of either services or goods. Anger is an inevitable emotional experience within both the individuals in an organization as well as the organization as a whole. Organizations create a culture with a set of values and processes that come to characterize the way that anger is managed. Some organizations create a culture of fear, where anger is managed by a sense of vulnerability when this emotion is expressed. Other cultures are characterized by behind the scenes management of anger through passive-aggressiveness, formation of coalitions and alignments to express anger, while still others under-respond to anger and allow a form of chaos to rule. All of these anger management strategies undermine the essential life and energy of an organization, and represent the True Cost of anger. Bottom line costs are some of the following:
What kinds of Services does TCC offer?
Tier I- TCC consultants can come in an do what is basically an educational seminar or workshop on anger management for the organization as a whole, or sub-components of the organization such as management or personnel groups.
Tier II- TCC consultants are engaged to do an intensive analysis of the anger management work culture of the organization
TCC Tier II Strategies
Assessment- Through the use of targeted assessment instruments, the organization is evaluated to identify current management strategies, the general and specific sources of anger in the individuals and the organization as a whole, the levels of overall emotional and social intelligence of the management of the organization, specific “cancer” site sof toxic anger, and a sense of the perceived cost of the current practices of anger management to both individuals and the organization as a whole. Assessments are done initially by a mailed out written instrument, followed by an on-site follow up for additional clarification of identified concerns.
Intervention- As the anger culture of the organization is identified, specific interventions are tailored to address change, with the goal being healthy identification, and processing of anger-based concerns, increased motivation through hearing and validating concerns, and overall health outcomes both organizationally and individually. Essentially, the focus is on producing a wellness model at an organizational level. Components of intervention strategies will always be psycho-educational, in the sense that teaching about anger and anger management is always foundational to any organization. If specific practices of management are identified that need to have targeted interventions, these will be part of the overall strategy of consultation and intervention. Sometimes an organization may have a component or individual that get identified as so toxic that they will be referred for more intensive coaching, which can be done with the Anger Management Institutes coaching division.
Follow Up- Consultation along with interventions are followed up by an assessment as to how organizational changes are being maintained and how effective they are in the bottom line issues initially identified
Cost- The cost of utilization of TCC is based on an assessment of the size of the organization and the estimated time and involvement of the consultants. The charge is based on a base hourly rate of $500 plus expenses. The argument of TCC is cost effectiveness. Theoretically an organization could pay out $5000 (as an example) to TCC, and could have a reasonable return of investment (ROI) of $50,000 or more in re-couped costs in terms of effectiveness, efficiency, and reduction in health related issues.
Target Organizations-
- Small Businesses- Medical practices, Groups with 1-50 employees
- Mid-sized- 50- to 500 employees
- Large Companies- 500 and above
- Not-for-profit- The cost-benefit ratio is calculated more in terms of the desired outcome of the mission statement of the organization
- Churches- Tailored to the unique components of the unique elements of this organization
- Hospitals- Focus is on the delivery of optimal health care services where assessment and intervention is in the complex interplay of doctors nurses, support staff, insurance, and administration.
